Über mich / About me

I’m Chris, 50 years old, and live in Frankfurt Germany where I’m fortunate enough to see many of the bands I enjoy. I was born in Frankfurt and have always lived here, apart from two years in Scotland where I dedicated my time to voluntary service.

The idea of blogging about concert experiences was born one evening in 2018 when driving in the car with my brother and exchanging memories we had about recent visits to concerts. I realized then, that visits to concerts were not necessarily something I would write about in my journal but by the same token, I didn’t want to forget about them either (memory fades over time, at least that what happens to me). That’s when the thought about a concert related blog came up.

My initial idea for the blog’s name was ‘nineblog’ as two of the best electronic albums (and that is of course a subjective view) were Depeche Mode’s ‘Violator’ and Nitzer Ebb’s ‘Belief’, each containing nine songs. However, eventually I settled for ‘they use synths’ as the blogs name as it is a bit more catchy (so I hope) and more related to the blogs focus area.

I am not what you call an influencer and I’m not trying to be one as it is not my aim to convince anybody of anything in regards to music. This is simply the place to share the experiences I had in the past and will hopefully have in the future and to keep memories alive.

Chris
